MANY DIVISIONS. ONE STANDARD
A great value chain isn’t built by doing one thing well. It’s built by mastering every stage. From farming and processing to retail and trade support, each Meatmasters division brings its own expertise to ensure consistent spec, reliable supply and traceable provenance.
Divisions & Value Chain
BUILT INTO EVERY DELIVERY
Most meat changes hands many times. Ours doesn’t. Meatmasters owns every step – so quality, traceability and supply stay under one standard from the first day to the final cut.

Farming
Where mastery begins
Our farming division is the foundation of the Meatmasters value chain, built on generations of experience, responsible sourcing, and a deep respect for livestock. By working closely with trusted farmers, many of whom are shareholders, we ensure every partner meets our standards from the outset. This close alignment enables consistent outcomes, ethical practices, and full traceability from the very start of the journey. It is here, at source, that integrity is established and quality is set in motion.
Abattoir
Where quality is verified and trust is secured
Quality is protected through clear standards, careful handling and accountable processes at every stage. From intake and inspection to processing and dispatch, each step is managed to maintain consistency, uphold specifications and give customers confidence in the product they receive.
Established in 1998, our high-throughput abattoir is where precision and control come together. Independent classification and grading are conducted through IMQAS, in collaboration with SAMIC, ensuring every process is objectively measured and aligned to industry standards. With the support of HAS quality control methods, precision is maintained at every step. This is where traceability becomes tangible. Advanced tracking systems connect every stage, from farm to plate. Serving both internal operations and external partners, the abattoir supports a consistent, reliable supply across regions, built on care, coordination, and shared mastery.
Primal Plant
Precision in every cut
Our deboning and primal processing facility is built for precision at scale, where skilled hands and structured systems work together to deliver consistent results. As demand grows, the operation continues to expand, strengthening our ability to produce accurately cut, well-prepared products without compromising on control or care. Every cut is part of a connected system. From traceable input to final output, consistency is maintained across volumes, ensuring a reliable supply of frozen boxed cuts and trimmings to key markets across KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Gauteng.

Smokehouse
Tradition perfected
Our factory is rooted in a traditional German smokehouse, where traditional, time-tested recipes and natural smoking methods are still applied today. Rather than relying on additives, each product is carefully prepared using established techniques, ensuring a consistent and considered approach to processing. From everyday staples to more specialised deli products, the same level of care and control is maintained throughout. This allows us to produce at scale while preserving the integrity of the product, delivering a range that meets the needs of different markets.
Butchery Supplies
Supporting the craft behind the counter
Meatmasters Butchery Supplies is the sole distributor of Crown National in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, supporting butchers with a well-managed supply of essential products. From casings, spices, and marinades to packaging, tools, and cleaning materials, the full range is carefully sourced and consistently available. We also supply butchery equipment and parts, ensuring operations run smoothly. More than supply, it’s ongoing support. From practical advice on recipes, meat blocks, and costings to hands-on staff training, we work alongside our partners to help them operate with confidence. With regular deliveries across the region and products that meet recognised food safety standards, everything is designed to keep standards high and businesses moving.
Retail
From factory to fork
This is where mastery meets the customer. Our retail division brings the full Meatmasters system directly to consumers through trusted outlets like Meatmasters Butchery and our ROOTS® partnerships. Here, everything comes together; from fresh cuts to processed and speciality products, all shaped by the same standards and care that run through our entire value chain. Whether it’s everyday essentials or custom requests, our teams are committed to delivering excellence – cut to order, every time.

Smokehouse tradition. Real fire. Real flavour.
You can smoke just about anything. But that doesn’t mean you should. Cooking low and slow won’t do you much good when it comes to a porterhouse or T-bone, for example. They would dry out and become, well, not quite inedible—but not exactly enjoyable, either. And when...
